Kirklees Emergency Alert for businesses

Monday, 14 October 2019

Kirklees Council are piloting a new emergency text message service for businesses within Huddersfield and Dewsbury town centres.

Business have a responsibility to keep their staff, customers and buildings safe and our new ‘Kirklees Emergency Alert’ service will help them to do this.

In the event of an emergency in one of these town centres, businesses signed up to the service will receive a free SMS giving them a summary of the incident, actions to take and a signpost to further information or guidance.

Emergencies could include fires, floods, extreme weather, utility disruptions or a range of other situations where action must be taken.

We expect to open the service to businesses in other areas of Kirklees following the pilot, in late 2019.

This service is for businesses only. We already have effective methods for sharing information with the public including our website, facebook, twitter and local media channels.

More information on Kirklees Emergency Alert is available online.
